The Friends of the Goulandris Natural History Museum at the Aesthetic Forest and the Botanical Garden

We were delighted to welcome the Friends of the Goulandris Natural History Museum to the Mt. Hymettus Aesthetic Forest and the Philodassiki Botanical Garden.

Together, we walked through the forest and the garden, learning about their history, the rich biodiversity of Mediterranean ecosystems, and the conservation and environmental education initiatives carried out by Philodassiki.

Following an introduction by Panos Kafousias, Director of Philodassiki, and Dr. Nikos Pagkas, Technical Director of the Aesthetic Forest, our walk began at the Botanical Garden – guided by Sophia Stathatou, Curator of the Garden – and continued to the Kaisariani Monastery, ending at Taxiarches Hill, with its panoramic view over the city and the Saronic Gulf.

Professor Emerita Theodora Petanidou joined our walk, and encouraged us to observe closely the plants in bloom this season and to photograph wild pollinators as part of the LIFE 4 Pollinators program.

We sincerely thank all participants for their interest and active engagement – and we look forward to welcoming them again soon to the Aesthetic Forest.
