Summer Break for the “Volunteer Days” Program
In August, the Philodassiki Society’s “Volunteer Days” program is taking a short summer break, following a series of activities filled with meaningful work, care, and community participation in the Aesthetic Forest.
Over the past two months, volunteers have offered valuable support in maintaining the forest and its infrastructure. In the Historical Olive Grove, pruning was carried out on a hillside of olive trees, focusing on the removal of suckers from the trunks – a necessary step that supports healthy growth, reduces competition around the base, and promotes the overall vitality of the trees.
Meanwhile, at the nursery, tasks such as weeding, digging, plant relocation, and watering continued at a steady pace. These efforts help the existing plants thrive and prepare the space for new plantings in the coming season.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers who participated with good spirit, consistency, and deep respect for nature. Your contribution truly makes a difference.
We’ll resume our activities in September, with new field actions and an open invitation to anyone who would like to join this shared effort.
Until then, we wish you a wonderful summer — and we look forward to seeing you back in the forest!
