A Year Full of New Experiences!
Since 2012, Philodassiki has been implementing experiential environmental education programs for school groups, aiming to foster a deeper connection with the natural world and to cultivate environmental awareness. Throughout these years, we’ve continued to experiment and evolve – adapting to the needs of students and educators – while staying true to the quality of education we are committed to offering.
We thank you warmly for your ongoing participation and support in our work over the years.
Another year of school programs has come to an end.
A year that gave us the joy of delivering 140 educational sessions to school groups, reaching more than 2,700 students in total.
A special year, in which we had the opportunity to implement new ideas and open new ways for even more groups to connect with nature in the Aesthetic Forest.
Here are some highlights:
- With great enthusiasm, we welcomed the Gardening Workshop of the Cerebral Palsy Greece/Open Door, for an introductory visit focused on the history and biodiversity of the Aesthetic Forest. Together, we conducted two hands-on workshops where participants propagated aromatic plants – a meaningful and rewarding experience for everyone involved.
- Our long-standing collaboration with Hill School was further deepened this year through a pilot project: a year-long, experiential program titled "The Forest and Me" for second-grade students. Monthly sessions ran from October to May, with each class engaging in active exploration and inquiry-based learning in nature – giving children the time, space, and freedom to build their own personal relationship with the forest.
- With the aim of strengthening urban biodiversity, we hosted two seed ball workshops for children during Hill School’s Christmas Fair, and two additional workshops for adults as part of a visit by Members of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) to the Aesthetic Forest.
- And finally, after 13 years of educational programming for primary schools, this year we proudly launched our first programs for secondary education! As a starting point, we welcomed 12 schools and around 300 students to four newly designed programs for junior high school, tailored to support adolescents in connecting with environmental topics in a relevant and engaging way.
Here’s to new beginnings and a strong path forward – toward a healthy education for all!
